Hey y’all, it’s Crissy O back with another scoop of homestead love for Crissy O’s Clucky Chronicles! After that wild lightning strike that knocked me offline for 12 days, I’m tickled to be back with my Starlink Gen 3, sharing the joys and trials of farm life. Today, let’s chat about the progress on some exciting projects and whip up a summer treat to cool you down.
First off, I’ve been hard at work on my e-book, From Poverty to Poultry: A Homesteader’s Journey. It’s comin’ along nicely, blending my Eastern NC roots with tales of raisin’ chickens, ducks, and quail like Tami’s brood. With Chapters 1-5 takin’ shape, I’m aimin’ to have it ready soon—look for it on crissyoshow.com for just $7! Plus, I’m cookin’ up a storm with a new recipe book, packed with Granny Lorene’s wisdom on egg dishes and more homestead favorites. Stay tuned, y’all—it’s gonna be a clucky good read!
Now, let’s beat this summer heat with a homemade ice cream recipe that’s simple as pie.
Grab these ingredients:
2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup whole milk, ¾ cup sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring, and a pinch of salt. Whisk it all together ‘til the sugar dissolves—give your arm a workout, it’s worth it! Pour it into a freezer-safe container, maybe an old ice cream pail, and pop it in the freezer. Stir every 30 minutes for about 2-3 hours to keep it creamy—those ice crystals won’t stand a chance! Once it’s thick and dreamy, scoop it up and enjoy a taste of summer on your porch. Add some fresh berries from your garden if you’re feelin’ fancy!
While you’re chillin’ with that ice cream, check in on my YouTube channel—1,115 subscribers and 1,343 watch hours strong, thanks to y’all! Tomorrow’s vlog at 7 PM EDT dives into some drama on the farm yard, and Monday’s live will update you on Tami and the flock. Head to crissyoshow.com for more farm fun, and let’s keep this homestead family growin’—I heart ya'll great big!
